Visual Resistance from Turtle Island to Palestine

On December 2, 2025 Drawing Wisdom will be hosting an online fundraising event featuring a conversation with Rehab Nazzal and Clifton Arihwakehte, hosted by Jada-Gabrielle Pape

“I think of Resistance as a responsibility of finishing the work our ancestors started. We are following the path they laid out to ensure that we will always be here.” ~ Jada-Gabrielle Pape, wu’Was’welam (Saanich and Snuneymuxw Nations)

This conversation will explore the overlapping ways our lives as Indigenous Peoples from Turtle Island to Palestine live in worlds shaped by colonialism and its inherent violence. Both of these gifted filmmakers and story tellers create striking visual resistance through their projects. Their connection of being bound by shared resistance, shared struggle and shared love of their people promises to be both intimate and powerful.

“From the Salish Sea to Palestine” film director Jada joins Rehab Nazzal (Palestine) and Clifton Arihwakehte Nicholas (Kanien’kehaka) in conversation about how visual storytelling is a vital form of resistance for Indigenous struggles everywhere.

Healing our Humanity: Doctors Resist Apartheid

On December 16, 2025 Drawing Wisdom will be hosting an online fundraising event featuring a conversation with Dr. Yipeng Ge and Dr Suzanne Shoush, hosted by Jada-Gabrielle Pape

Colonial violence hurts the world from every angle and so it stands that to heal the world we must resist colonialism in every way. Dr. Yipeng Ge references care for the children in Palestine, “These children are the reason we do our organizing, advocacy, and activism work. To ensure that the world we leave behind is a bit better than we found it.” This commitment is shared with Dr. Suzanne Shoush as she reflects, “Genocide is a learned behaviour.” Join us for a heartfelt and humble conversations with two powerful comrades who are striking down colonial walls in every space they enter.

Please RSVP, and spread the word!

These Events are all part of our fundraiser to support the production of our feature doc, “From the Salish Sea to Palestine”, a film that weaves together powerful stories of artists whose intersecting visions for liberation, resistance, and deeply decolonized futures create hope in a time of global upheaval. This film tells the story of shared struggles for freedom and survival from Indigenous communities — peoples bound together by histories of genocide, displacement, and unbroken ties to land and water.

We are an Indigenous, Palestinian, and racialized-led team raising funds to transform the short film From the Salish Sea to Palestine into a feature-length production. Through this film, we aim to amplify the voices of Indigenous and Palestinian artists whose stories are often silenced, and whose art embodies both grief and resistance.

Watch: Are Canadian charities getting tax breaks for funding illegal settlements?

CBC’s The Fifth Estate just released the documentary “Funding the Occupation”where they travelled to the West Bank and spoke with several Palestinian families and communities who are the victims of Israeli war crimes. There is ample evidence that Canadian charities are actively funding Israeli terrorism.
