About Drawing Wisdom
Stay connected
Stories of liberation in our lifetime
The land speaks. we listen.
Drawing Wisdom follows Indigenous pathways of knowing and being. We co-create films and projects that draw from this wisdom.
We centre the emotional and mental safety of all our collaborative storytellers. We don’t pry in our questions during “interviews” and we offer reciprocity – we reflect back the nourishment that comes through sharing stories. This ensures people leave feeling better than when they arrived. Our culturally relevant approach builds in safety and reciprocity allowing participants to draw on their own creative processes and projects. We also bring this approach into our outreach and distribution to widen the community to sustain our work.
“Putting cultural safety first, means witnessing, honouring and sharing the pride that comes from traditional ways of knowing.”
Drawing Wisdom Decolonizing Society
We recently made the move to become a non-profit.
Our Mandate is to:
- Produce films, media arts, and visual arts to advance Reconciliation, and Indigenous sovereignty.
- Produce art and cultural production that celebrates Indigenous culture.
- Produce collaborative art projects between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, that work towards Reconciliation as outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions final report recommendations.
- Provide consultations to community/educational organizations around race and decolonization.
